HiDownload Pro – Useful Utility to Download Streaming Media
The first thing you need to know about this StreamingStar Technology Inc-developed application HiDownload is that there are two versions of this app out there. There’s HiDownload Pro, and then there’s HiDownload Platinum. We will not focus on the Platinum version here; we will focus on the Pro version instead.
One question immediately comes to mind: What is HiDownload Pro and what can it do for you? HiDownload Pro is a multi-threaded download manager that allows you to download individual files and lists of files from the web or from FTP sites. The HiDownload Pro application accelerates downloads by splitting whatever file you want to download into several parts and them downloading them at the same time.
The HiDownload Pro application also lets you save streaming media on your computer. You can save any media broadcast through the HTTP, RTSP and MMS protocols. You can for example download MP3s from Shoutcast and videos from YouTube.
HiDownload Pro is also an URL sniffer.
Before you go get HiDownload Pro and put it to the test, there are some technical details that you should know about. The technical details presented below:
Download – the download weighs in at 2.9MB which is good news. It means that it will take very little time to get HiDownload Pro off the web and onto your computer. I don’t know about you, but I don’t particularly like to wait a long time for a download to complete.
Installation – installing the application on your Windows-powered PC takes little time as well. Just follow the instructions presented by the setup wizard and you will be done in no time at all. HiDownload Pro should work fine on just about any version of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system (this of course includes XP, Vista and Windows 7).
Limitations – you can use HiDownload Pro free of charge for a trial period of 30 days.
